You might not realize it, but most of the books on your shelf are probably written by traditionally published authors. They’re the titles most people tend to hear about right away—Stephen King, John Grisham, JK Rowling. But did you know that there is an entire world of books out there written by independent authors?
As an indie reader and author myself, I know how valuable indie books are. If you’re wondering whether you should try giving indie books a shot, allow me to convince you!
Discover new authors. Big-name publishers tend to publish the same authors again and again. It can be hard to find someone new! With indie authors, you can be the one to discover an author before anyone else, and even help the authors you love find success.
Support small artists. It’s a much better feeling to know that your money is going toward a small artist following their dreams rather than a large corporation.
Save money. Most indie authors put their books up for sale multiple times a year—something you won’t find as easily with the Big 5 publishers! Keep an eye out for $0.99 or $2.99 indie deals if you’re looking to read broadly within your budget.
Find books that meet your tastes. Rather than reading the new trends that a publisher decided everyone should be enjoying, when you buy indie you can search out the exact type of book you’re looking to enjoy. There are so many options, you’ll never run out of books you love!
If you’re looking to dip your toe into the world of indie books, this is your reminder that the Night Buddies series is currently on sale for a buy 2, get one free deal!
